And the Winner Is....
We have to brag about our Grandpa Trent- He was nominated for a Grammy! He is up for Best Engineered Album, Classical- the album was Spirit Of The Season. Cheer for him on February 10th! Trent was also involved in creating Josh Groban's Noel CD. Josh Groban did a song with the choir- "Oh Come All Ye Faithful."Thursday, January 3, 2008
Aleksa Walker's Rockin New Year's Eve.... kind of.
We spent New Years Eve with Cam's family. The night started off with a bang- I fell asleep at around 9:00 (Aleksa has not slept well since we arrived in Utah). When I woke up we all played a card game called Five Crowns- it was really fun. We then celebrated the New Year with Martinelli's and fireworks. However, the fireworks woke poor little Aleksa up and scared her a little.

Walker Family Picture Day...
I just have to preface this story with this-for those of you who know our little baby- you know that it is not hard to get her to smile at all. Well Lori wanted a family picture for Christmas. So we all go to this great photographer to have our pictures done. Well Aleksa scowled at him during the big family shot, our family shot and her pictures. We went outside to have some shots taken and she had a meltdown- needless to say no smiles. It was then time to take pictures of her in her blessing dress. Well I had to nurse her to calm her down which was awkward to say the least. Cam got her calmed down the rest of the way. She still did not even crack a smile. The photographer says that he thinks he has something that will work so we stop. We take her to the changing area to get her out of her blessing dress and she cracks a smile, and another, and another and then starts to coo. I could not believe it- what a turkey.
As an update- Lori and I went to look at the proofs and to Aleksa's credit there was one smile- but it looks like a popeye smile.

Other Christmas happenings....
Aleksa is the silliest baby I know- I am quite partial though. Here she is right after eating- when she is usually the happiest. Daddy had to take a video of her because she was being so silly.
Merry Christmas!
Christmas was very wonderful this year. Cam and I couldn't believe the change that we felt this year- having a baby has changed everything. As I was up that night feeding Aleksa I had a really beautiful thought. I realized that Mary was probably up that night with her baby too. Suddenly the night feedings that night were not such a burden.
Aleksa's first Christmas came and went like most of her other days- she slept and ate. She was awake to see what Santa left her. She played with her "tower of Pooh" but was too tired to do much else. Mom had to open for Aleksa and dad. It was a great day, we are so grateful to our families for everything they have done for us.
