Saturday Project

Today I made this pumpkin dress for Aleksa. I am really happy with the way it turned out. I think I will list some on my etsy.com site. Can you tell that I am really excited for Halloween this year. I already have her costume too- I just can't wait! Having a daughter is the best!

More Aleksa

Why is it that I can never consistantly blog about Aleksa, instead, I always seem to blog in spurts- I'm sorry for this. Here are some pictures of Aleksa the other day- she actually kept her ponytail and bow in for about an hour- a record. I had to take some pictures to prove it. Yes- she is on the stair stepper here too- she is committed to that stair stepper.

I have also posted a video of Aleksa in the morning. This is what she does every morning- Cam turns on some music and Aleksa dances until she has her bath. We just laugh and laugh.

love that stair stepper... at least one of us does...

The pictures can't really do this justice, but here is Aleksa on her favorite toy- the stair stepper. She sits on it like she is in a school desk. As you can see Anya is right there with her- as usual.

Our battle of wills...

That's it- I give in Aleksa- you win- and surprisingly- I don't care. That's how I swear I feel about some things lately. Somethings are just not worth my time or effort to fight. Like the entertainment center struggle. We have an entertainment center that has a book/picture shelf on one side with a glass door. We have told Aleksa no probably a hundred times, covered the door with pillows, blockades, etc. I think all those things have just made it that much more alluring to our inquisitive little one. Well I finally gave in and she was thrilled and I was actually pretty thrilled myself. I moved the pictures from the bottom shelf and she played happily, by herself for the rest of the night. She even took toys in there after I stopped taking pictures. So I have to clean the glass more often and I lost a shelf of storage but I have one less battle. All I can say kiddo is you may have won the battle but I promise you- I will win the war. :)
Now that Aleksa has played in the bottom shelf she has moved on to the shelf above. There are two pictures on that shelf that she adores. One of Cam and his grandpa Walker and one of Cam and I on our wedding day. She loves to look at them. She will point at Cam then look at Cam and just giggle. She is gentle with them, which is more than I can say for an album that we have some wedding pictures in. She loved it too much and broke the album, which is now hers. She loves to sit and look through the ablum at all the pictures. I am excited that she seems to love pictures as much as I do- I think she will be getting her own photo album for her birthday so I can have mine back. (And yes- Cache and Lindsey- she is wearing the John Mayer fan club badge- she found that and wore it ALL morning. What can I say she has great taste.)

Our Day....

Today was the first day of school for Cameron. He is officially a 2L (second year law student) now. I made him take a picture this morning- of course Peachie wanted to be in the picture too- oh how much has changed since last year. Then Aleksa and I spent the day organizing mom and dad's closet, cleaning the house and painting a stool/night stand for our bedroom. For our family home evening treat tonight we had zucchini cupcakes with caramel frosting- they were divine. Here is the link if any of you have more zucchini than you know what to do with-- http://www.tasteofhome.com/Recipes/Zucchini-Cupcakes.

Aleksa was so tired after eating her lunch that she just fell asleep in her high chair. Poor little thing- she has been sick and teething these past couple of days- it's been rough on her and mom and dad.

Here are some pictures of the stool that I painted today- it turned out pretty good I think. The pictures do not show the red right. I have another stool just like this that I will paint to match and use as bed side tables for Cam and I.

I need an opinion...

Those of you that know me know that I have been hauling around this stool and promising Cam that I would refinish it for about a year and a half. I even moved it to Arkansas. Well the day has finally come. I am in the process of refinishing it. I need opinions on the fabric I should use to cover to top with. If you can't tell, the fabric on the right is a zebra print- the sample is really small. The fabric will cover a pad on the top and I will paint the wood black.

Summer in Review

Well we are finally back home- it still feels weird. I have a ton of pictures to post from all of our activities since Daddy came home from Russia. We went to the Zoo, did a baby contest, went to a Parade, to the lake, read Breaking Dawn in a marathon, and back to Arkansas! Before we left on vacation our vacuum broke and we had to buy a new one when we got home. After a boring day of vacuum shopping we are now the proud owners of a used Oreck- can I say that I now have three loves in my life, Cam, Aleksandra and my oreck. It is featherlight and cleans like a dream- I probably have vacuumed our house three times a day everyday since we bought it despite being sick. I have been sick for awhile now, but finally seem to be on the mend- thank goodness- laying on the couch all day sounds way more fun than it actually was! Needless to say we have hand sanitizer everywhere you look, fully stocked hand soap and everything in our house has been clean, swept, mopped, sterilized and repeated. So no worries, thanks family for your love and prayers.

We met my best friend from high school Keira and her husband Jason- it was so fun to catch up and also talk about old times.

Best Friends.
Aleksa is "too cool" at the parade with daddy.

Aunt Tori helped Aleksa run and get candy.

Aleksa at the Zoo, looking at the brown bears... brown bear brown bear what do you see?
It was so hot at the Zoo.
Brook was nice enough to share her ice cream with Aleksa.

Aleksa wanted to try and measure up too. She stood there for a really long time so that we could get a lot of pictures.

Aleksa wanted to see the animals so bad that she was leaning out of her stroller and looking under the fence.
I love her expression in this picture.
Cam was excited that it said welcome in Russian at the Zoo.
Petting the alligator skull.

Aleksa modelled this diaper in the baby contest- she didn't win- but she was nice enough to give us an encore that night.
Brook, Lindsey and I went to a Breaking Dawn party we even made t-shirts. Brook's shirt said who needs heaven when you can have Edward. Mine said I'm betting on Alice.

Happy Anniversary!

Today Cameron and I have been married 4 years! I cannot believe it- it has flown by so fast. We have a big day planned that ends with as many hours of Olympics NBC will show us- what can I say we LOVE the Olympics. Stay tuned for the pics from this fabulous day!
